Julie Lo – Monopoly Deal fanatic

Despite the 4 years’ gap, Julie shares a strong relationship with her sister, Michelle. The 2 of them can be found shopping together, going for pedicures or playing Monopoly Deal on lazy weekend afternoons.

WIYB with Julie Lo, 22

Julie Lo is a 3rd year Social Science student at SMU and is currently serving her internship. She carries a Longchamp Le Pliage limited edition medium-sized bag in Navy blue which comes with the Eiffel Tower design to celebrate theĀ  tower’s 120th anniversary. Just so you know, Julie’s current obsession is Monopoly Deal and she has been winning the game way too often for her sister’s liking.

Q) Can you tell us more about your bag?

My bag is from Longchamp and my sister bought it for me when she went to France for an immersion program. It was around 78 euros, good deal! I have always been complaining that I cannot find a suitable bag that matches my clothes easily, so this dark blue bag was really a good steal. I carry this bag with me almost every day. The best thing about this bag is that its color and design can fit both work and play occasions. It is also big enough to put all my things and yet stay lightweight. I really love this bag of mine!

What’s In Julie’s Bag:

  • Organizer with vintage illustrations

I bought this from a shop that sells Korean stationery. I love everything floral and this is why the first thing that caught my eye was the flower on the cover. I also like the vintage photography shown in the book. An organizer is very important to me as it helps me remember all my appointments and keep me in check.

  • Kate Spade wallet

My wallet is from Kate Spade and I love how well the bright purple goes with the red leather. My sister gave it to me on my 21st birthday as I needed a wallet badly. It contains my money, credit cards, ATM card, name cards and some polaroids taken with friends.

  • USB thumbdrive

My thumbdrive comes in very handy when I’m at work. As I often transfer many big documents to my colleagues, it is a lot more convenient to do it through a thumbdrive than to send it online because of limited email space.

  • “Watermelon” pouch

I cannot remember where I got it because it was pretty long ago, maybe in some small shop at Heeren during my secondary school days. It is my backup kit with my concealer, eyeliner, perfume, contacts solution, and plasters inside.

  • Haircomb

I always have a habit of carrying my comb out with me since I was young. It helps to tidy up my messy hair and I use it the most when tying up my hair.

  • Pencil Case

I like to use my own stationery …. There are also times when I need to jot things down when I’m out on errands and having my own stationery at hand makes things so much easier.

  • Umbrella

The weather in Singapore is so unpredictable these days so I carry my umbrella wherever I go. Plus it’s small and portable, so I have no excuse for not bringing it out and I don’t want to be caught in the rain, especially for important meetings.

  • iPod Touch

My iPod Touch is my closest companion when travelling. I will pick my music playlist according to my mood every day and it also helps to keep me sane on stressful days. I bought a 16GB so I could load videos of my favourite shows and watch them as and when I want to.

  • Eiffel Tower keychain

This was a gift from my friend when she went backpacking in Paris. She is one of my closest friend; we share the same taste in music and she is also my ultimate stress-relieve partner because she never fails to make me smile with all her witty jokes. I also thought it is really sweet of her to still think of me when she’s overseas, so I treasure this keychain a lot. I have always wanted to visit Eiffel Tower because it is a really beautiful monument and this keychain acts as a reminder for me to persevere and continue saving up for my trip to Paris.

Q) What is the one item you can’t leave home without?

The one thing I cannot leave home without is my phone. I have unconsciously grown so reliant on it now that I feel so insecure without it, like I am out of touch with the world. And I will have to use my phone to contact my friends when meeting them, so I really can’t leave home without it. But my phone is so old that it’s starting to give me problems, so once iPhone 4 is officially launched in Singapore, I am going to get it immediately.

Q) Tell us more about your sister Michelle.

My sister is some one really special to me. Although we have been bullying each other for the past 21 years (usually I end up winning with my special combination of “YOU ARE SO DEAD, MICHELLE LO” and deadly tickling skills), we know that we will always be there for each other through the good and bad times. She’s my shopping partner, my joking buddy, my laughing machine, my listening ear and my problem solver. She’s every thing that I can ask for in a sister and I’m glad I have her through the years.
