WIYB with Huifen, 25
A netball player since 10, Huifen has been representing Singapore as a goal attack (GA) in the national team since 2004. The team trains 4 days a week, comprising of 2 court trainings and 2 gym sessions. For Huifen, this is on top of her regular shooting sessions which she needs to put in. It has never been easy for Huifen and she gets her inspiration from Sharelle McMahon, one of the key shooters for Australia Diamonds who strives her towards being a world class player. Motivation also comes from her teammates and the camaraderie they’ve built over the years; little wonder that her proudest moment in her netball career was when the team won the Asian championship.
Besides netball and teaching, Huifen enjoys spending quality time with her friends and good books & movies. Huifen picks Julienne as her favourite style from bagspace.sg because the simplicity allows her to match her outfits easily.
What’s in Huifen’s Bag:
- Coach wallet
Because Coach is so much cheaper over in U.S. and at the same time, my previous wallet was ailing, I had to get a friend who was having a graduation trip there to get it for me. It’s stuffed with money, cards and used receipts to keep track of my expenses.
- Prints planner
Ever since I’d gotten a Prints planner as a Christmas gift in 2006, I had decided to reward myself with it for every Christmas. Being a scatterbrain, it certainly helps in reminding me of the important dates via this organizer. I was quite enthusiastic in penning down my daily thoughts when I just got this, but this has kind of faded when I started teaching.
- iPhone 3GS
I succumbed to the “everyone-must-use-iPhone” trend.
- Agnes B key pouch
Found this onlne at a reasonable price after I dropped a bunch of keys into the lift’s gap. I didn’t consider getting a key pouch until I’d gotten an iPhone. I have a habit of dumping everything into the bag so having a key pouch will prevent the screen from getting scratched (okay, my phone screen doesn’t have a screen protector).
- Oakley shades
For me to act cool… Actually it’s me getting paranoid of exposing my eyes to the sun. Read too many horror stories of how the sun can damage the eyes. I don’t want to get cataract and regret not wearing sunnies when I’m old!
- La Roche Posay sunscreen
This brand of sunscreen was recommended by one of my friends! I love to be in the sun but I have to stop my freckles from reigning my face! Therefore a sunscreen is really important to at least keep them under control. It doesn’t leave an oily texture so I highly recommend it to those who need UV protection.
- iRiver MP3 player with Sennheiser earphones
Being an easily influenced person, I have been using iRiver and Sennheiser earphones since they were introduced to me by a group of hallmates back in the days when I’m an Eusoffian! Music is great company when I’m travelling alone, makes my morning runs more entertaining, and sometimes I listen to music to psyche myself up before my games.
Q) What is 1 item you can’t leave home without?
Seems like none because I had survived without my keys, wallet, phone (one at a time) before but I probably can’t leave home without any 2 of them!
Q) Tell us 1 thing we don’t know about you
I remember friends’ email addresses unknowingly when checking their statuses on MSN. I always think it’s normal to be able to remember them easily. My teammates and I were making fun of those cheesy names that were chosen when we were childish, but when I started to recite more and moe of those email addresses, my teammates were amazed!
Q) Describe yourself in 1 sentence
Eternally wacky.
